John Quarisa is a Jimmy Watson Trophy-winning winemaker, with a "long and distinguished" career (Halliday). Here he's provided a beautifully rich, lush and full-flavoured Shiraz, a Gold-medal beauty laden with ripe fruits and delicious exotic spice on a smooth, long finish.
Sam Trimboli LOVES Durif. He calls it a “stunning little powerhouse grape that develops astounding complexity”. The numberplate on his car even sports the word ‘Durif’, that’s how highly he rates it. The grapes for this wine come from a small vineyard that Sam helped establish in the 1980s and is now at peak maturity.
The King Valley in Victoria's beautiful alpine region is home to some truly delicious cool, crunchy, crisp and mouthwatering wines. This one, from the same folk who bring you the famous Black Pig is all that and more. A cracking little drop to share over a platter, or for quaffing on its own, it's a fresh, citrus-filled white backed by a crunchy acidity and exciting finish. Chill, splash into a glass, enjoy!
This fruity, mouthwatering, beautifully balanced white comes from a renowned cellar in the remote Riverina region that also provides our No.1 bestselling red of the same name. The Aussies often say something is the best thing this side of ‘the black stump’ (some mythical outback place) so we thought it an ideal name for this wine. But an isolated location hasn’t stopped the Casella family from running one of the country’s most successful wineries, winning countless awards including the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy, Aussie wine’s equivalent of an Oscar. Ideal with pasta and creamy mushroom sauce, stir-fry or roast chicken.
Malbec is a grape close to Sam's heart. His wife Maria, who works with him, is from Argentina, so perhaps that's not surprising. He also has a passion for the Durif grape and has done for decades. His car licence plate even reads 'DURIF'. What he loves most though is making wines that wine lovers adore. And he has been doing that for years very well indeed. We've worked with him for decades, and this shy, modest man is simply brilliant at creating wines that show judges – and our customers – love! His grandfathers back in Italy began the winemaking tradition of the Trimboli family, they would be very proud of Sam.
