Wine Summary
Paolo Masi is the third generation to be in charge at his family estate in Chianti Rufina, west of Florence. It lies high on a hill overlooking the beautiful Argomenna valley and winding Sieve river. On top of 25 hectares of vines, it boasts 15 of olive groves, and tracts of woodland inhabited by wild boar (bad for the vineyard, good for sausages!). Rufina is a prime spot for Sangiovese, praised as early as the 18th century for wine quality. We’ve been buying wines from Paolo since he graduated from university in Florence in the mid 1990s. He’s made many improvements to the property since then, yet his wines are still some of the best value. We love the bright fruit and silky texture of this red with roast chicken or veggie kebabs.
