One of the great things about our exclusives range, is not just that they are made by some of the world's great winemaking talents, but that many of them win awards. Just like these tasty reds, down to $13.99 in this mix. Highlights include the TROPHY and Gold-winning Old Red River Gum Cabernet Shiraz, the blueberry and blackcurrant rich Deep River McLaren Vale Cabernet with Gold, and the gorgeous Gold-medal Way & Cat Cradle Series Red Blend from South Australia.
It’s wine like this, made using fruit from premium sites throughout the region, that makes South Australia a first choice destination for lovers of big, generously rich and velvety Aussie reds - consider it the state’s great gift to the wine world, not just at home but all over the globe. This red shows distinctive characters of black fruit, eucalypt and spice, smoothed out by delicious dark chocolate and a touch of smoky oak. The Trophy and Gold wins make this a must-have for your collection!
McLaren Vale reds are big, there's no doubt about that! Deep River takes them to another level as you'll see when you taste this deep, rich, sumptuous Cabernet. It's full of black fruits - blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry - with fragrant wild herbs, and delicious spice notes. Fine tannins and a long smooth finish give further drinking pleasure. A really lovely wine. Enjoy!
As you’d expect from a wine dominated by Durif, this is a whopper of a red. It was carefully crafted in the darkest corner of the cellar. Why? Because it’s the special project of rising star winemaker David Joeky and he didn’t want anyone to take a look or taste it until he was absolutely ready. So every evening, after the rest of the crew had left, David would retire to the furthest corner of the cellar, where he’d stationed his special tanks of dark, spicy Durif and ripest, peppery Shiraz. We think he’s ‘blended a blinder’ as the locals say. It’s firm and full, yet abundant in gloriously ripe, liquorice- and spice-scented fruit with an underlying note of oak. Smooth enough to sip on its own, but even better with hearty red meat dishes.
John Quarisa has been variously described as a “magician” and “a sorcerer” by Halliday. His wines do have a magic knack of winning Gold. Taste the enchanting version of his 2017 Gold-medal Enchanted Tree Shiraz - winner of not one but FOUR Gold medals – here.
