Beyond the Labels
Enjoy the best of both worlds, with a selection of reds and whites in a large 14-bottle mix. Your case includes a two-time Trophy champion with five Gold wins, Gold-medal Chardonnay and Coonawarra Cabernet, and much more.
This tasty Pinot Grigio comes from an award-winning cellar in the village of Etyek (50km from Budapest). One of our bestsellers for the past 15 years, it shows just what fantastic quality and value Hungary offers the wine lover. A country most famous for its regal sweet wine, Tokaj, Hungary also has a less well known, 600-year history of growing Italian grape varieties. Winemaker Gábor Laczkó has proven himself an expert, crafting a truly modern range of thrilling wines under the Campanula label, named after a local flower. Each vintage Gábor ring fences this zingy Pinot Grigio for our customers. Crisp and minerally, it boasts classic ripe pear and green apple flavour. Enjoy as a glass any time or with lighter dishes like fish or risotto.
Take a deep breath and smell the fresh aromas of citrus, peach and tropical fruit. Sip and savour the long and flavoursome palate of citrus and peach, subtle oak and deliciously crisp smooth finish. A portion of the wine was fermented in French oak and left for 6 months until blending and bottling, resulting in subtle textural hints and spice. Named after Quarisa family's private waterhole, the 30 Mile Chardonnay is as refreshing as a midnight swim. Try it alongside pan-fried fish with ginger and spring onion.
The Italian families of the Riverina have been producing royally good wines for years and now the secret is out! In critic James Halliday’s words... Calabria Family Wines “consistently delivers exceptional value for money across the entire range”. Bill Calabria, the leading light behind this wine, received a Queen’s Birthday Honour for his services to charity and the wine industry as a whole. Indulge in his classy Gold-winning Coonawarra (and Riverina) Cabernet Sauvignon. Lovely intensity of rich fruit with layers of blackcurrant and herb flavours and spicy toasty oak notes. The tannins are firm, the finish smooth, long and powerful.
The 2019 Trimboli “Salvatore” Trebbiano scooped a Gold medal at the Australian Italian Varietal Awards Wine Show. The wine then went on to receive the Trophy at the same show and then... Chief Judges Award for Most Exciting Wine of the Show! Sam, who has won hundreds and hundreds of Golds over the years (plus some MAJOR Trophies) has always handled this Italian white grape superbly. This is the vintage 3 years on, but we think it is just as delicious. Sam is on a winner here! White fruit, elegant charm and a lick of French oak.
It’s no coincidence the Papavero family of wines are amongst our customers’ favourites – winemaker Scipione Giuliani always manages to capture the very essence of the grape, the spirit of Italy and a delicious drinkability. This is the granddaddy of the group, made purely from Primitivo from a plot of 50-year-old vines, resulting in very concentrated flavour. Scipione discovered the vines in Puglia, and insisted that the grapes be bottled solo. To match the richness of the fruit he aged the wine in barrel for a few months, lending it mellow roundness and complexity. Dark plum and spicy raisin with alluring chocolate hints. ll Papavero Primitivo is a weighty red, best served with similarly hearty food. Enjoy with spaghetti with tomato, garlic and basil sauce, or with roast meats or pork casserole.
Bold blackberry fruit and spice suggest classic McLaren Vale Shiraz, while rare depth and complexity reflect premium, old vine fruit. A class act, this moreish red is ready to be enjoyed right now – ideally with a juicy rump steak, lamb cutlets, pork sausages or hearty moussaka.
Mixed Tape is one of our most loved labels. The idea behind it is simple: take deliciously complementary parcels of fruit, and carefully blend them together to make a wine of unmatched approachability and intrigue. Behind this new wine is the attractive red berry fruit of Tempranillo, the blackcurrant and herbal notes of Cabernet Sauvignon, and the peppery spice and blackberry richness of Shiraz. It's a deliciously mouthfilling, moreish red that pairs quite nicely with a bangin' Spotify playlist and few party pies.
