Cantine Due Palme has won many Winery of the Year Awards since it was set up well over 30 years ago by local hero Angelo Maci who championed small, independent growers. Back then, he worked with just 15 – today, there are over 1,000.

In fact, Angelo protected both the growers AND preserved the ancient traditions and almost extinct grape varieties that make southern Italian wines so characterful and flavourful. Now in his 80s, he’s handed winemaking over to his grandson, Francesco Fortunato.

For this cracking 2025 vintage of Pillastro Francesco again uses fruit largely from old vines, it means fewer grapes but with far more concentration and intensity.
