The Wine
The grape name Dolcetto means 'little sweet one', which sums up the style of this classic variety. It carpets the Monferrato hills of Piedmont and hardly strays beyond the provinces of Cuneo and Alessandria. Surprising when it produces such appealing, supple wines. Bric di Bersan is a delicious, moreish red - a classic from an estate that's been lovingly tended by the same family since 1923. All the grapes are carefully handpicked and destemmed to emphasise the bright fruit in the wine, with fermentation in vat, with no sight of oak. So smooth, it's a red that you can serve lightly chilled in summer, or at a cool room temperature. A classic partner to pizza or pasta, charcuterie or risotto. A versatile, fruit-led style of Italian red.
