The Wine
Cave de Hunawihr is an exceptional winery, centred in the heart of Alsace Grands Crus. It was ranked top co-operative in Alsace and 3rd in all France by La Revue du Vin. Founded in 1954, it aimed to re-establish winemaking in a region that had suffered greatly during WWII. From modest beginnings they’ve grown into an internationally recognised winery, spanning 200 hectares of vineyard, 13 of which are Grand Cru. Their Muelforst 2019 was acknowledged as the ‘Best Dry Riesling in Europe’ by Meiningers. Rubbing shoulders with Grand Cru Rosacker, this Lieu-Dit has exceptional southfacing slopes and soils ideal for Riesling. From a 5-star vintage, this fine white has intense tropical fruit, minerality and terrific length. Great now or cellar.
