Growers there are very proud of their native grapes, one of which is Grillo. This is the star of Ciccio (pronounced chee-chi-oh) – the nickname for the winemaker Francesco Asaro. He has been with this Sicilian cellar since 2002.
Gently handled and softly pressed, this Double Gold, 95pt Grillo makes a delicate, refreshing white with notes of pear and melon and a lift of sage and white pepper. Chill down a bottle and serve with antipasti, grilled fish or salads.
