The name Cowra is derived from the Aboriginal word meaning ‘eagle on the rocks.’ Huge granite boulders are scattered on the hills overlooking the township of Cowra. Chardonnay was planted here in 1972. The region’s potential was recognised by Aussie legends, Len Evans and Brian Croser. Well draining soils, abundant sunshine cool nights and fresh water from the Lachlan River all contribute to the cultivation of flavourful grapes with great lengths of flavour.
