Leconfield is a “distinguished estate with a proud history” (Halliday). Leconfield has long enjoyed the benefit of old vineyards, but “the arrival of winemaker Paul Gordon has allowed the full potential of those vineyards to be realised” (Halliday). Their stunning Merlot shows distinctive Coonawarra characters with a beautifully rich and velvety character. Mature Merlot vines planted from 1982 to 1999, a significant proportion of which is dry grown. Supporting this fruit is a block of newer clones which produce small berry size producing intense colour and a deeper flavour profile. Full flavour of ripe plums and round, long tannins that provide persistence and length. Elegance and finesse define this great wine.
