Forrest The Doctors' Marlborough Riesling 2021

Riesling was where Dr John Forrest's quest for a full-flavoured but lower alcohol wine began. He wanted to emulate the wonderful Rieslings of Germany that had all the flavour, balance and structure – but a lower alcohol level. The 'Doctors' is the stunning result. Dr Forrest and his wife Brigid (also a doctor) use techniques in the vineyard to allow the grapes to obtain maximum flavour, but keep sugar (and therefore alcohol) levels down. As Dr Forrest proudly points out, the wines have such structure, tannin, depth and balance that even experienced tasters would struggle to pick out the lower alcohol wine in a blind tasting line up! The Riesling is beautiful – like biting into a deliciously crisp Granny Smith apple while simultaneously licking lime sherbet and apricot…a tongue-tingling taste sensation - and only 9.0% alcohol!
