Spain's white wines have really come of age in the last decade. In cool, wet Galicia in northwest Spain, the winemaking DO of Rías Baixas, NW Spain, is home to the spellbinding Albariño grape. Our friend in Rioja, Ruth Chavarri, now also runs a top cellar here and creates this elegant, brilliantly mineral-fresh, lemon and lime white. close to the Atlantic coast, so it’s a really authentic example of the classic restaurant favourite. It’s a complex compilation of nectarine and peach flavours with a fine minerality courtesy of the soils and a freshness thanks to cool sea breezes.
