Hermanos Barbarossa 2024
Save $120 on a dozen bottles of a a true champion black red – a real rare, red treasure fit for a legendary pirate.
Spain’s Alicante region was once plagued by the fiercest of pirates, including ‘Red Beard’, or Barbarossa. The wine named after him is crafted by the brilliant Pamela Geddes, whose reds have wowed customers and won Golds aplenty, even a ‘World’s Top 1%’ award. Her Babarossa boasts its fair share of doubloons: a Double Gold medal, three Golds and scores of 90pts. But that only tells half the story.
It’s an incredibly rare find, made from a single plot of Garnacha Tintorera, a relative of Grenache that’s rarely seen on its own. In Portugal, it’s known as Alicante Bouschet, where it has become an unexpected star in the legendary multi-medal-winning Aluado. From gnarled old Spanish vines and in Pamela’s hands, it’s a masterful red we feel the old pirate would love. It’s fitting a wine named in his honour is offered today as a trove of plundered treasure, saving you $120.
