Winemaker William Knuttel made his mark while working at two of California’s most iconic estates: Saintsbury in the Napa Valley and Chalk Hill in Sonoma. Today, he channels that expertise into his own wines. Case in point: Gold-medal Lost Isle Cabernet Sauvignon. William crafted this rich red wine with grapes grown at Wilson Vineyards in Clarksburg – a top spot for premium, old-vine fruit. This region is renowned for producing grapes with great freshness and concentration of flavour, thanks to fog and cooling breezes that roll in from the San Francisco Bay. It’s then aged in fine French oak for 14 months for added depth and smoothness. Expect expressive aromas of ripe plum and black cherry, with dark fruit flavours and spice on the palate.
