The Wine

Lovers of mature Rioja and Tempranillo will love the silky, yet complex layers of red berry and oak in this superb value Gran Selección from Valencia. This 21 vintages has just won Best in Class and Double Gold to add to its Trophy and 20 Golds over 16 vintages.

Bodegas La Viña is located in the charming village of La Font de la Figuera, nestled in the foothills of the Sierra de Navalón and Sierra Grossa mountain ranges and just 20km from the coast. The vineyards enjoy warm, dry weather tempered by cooling breezes from the Mediterranean – ideal conditions for growing Tempranillo. It’s here that, today, winemaker Jorge Caus selects the finest, hand harvested grapes from 50-year-old vines for this Gran Selección.

Aged for three years in oak barrels it is a wonderfully fragrant, silky red wine with mature redcurrant, damson and fruitcake flavours and a touch of spice. Sublime with roast lamb, braised garlic chicken, tapas and mature cheeses.
