The Wine
Buyer for Italy Davy Zyw has come up trumps with this glorious Barolo from a top vintage. "Producers are jubilant about Barolo 2011" said Decanter, and sure enough, when Davy paid the Sartirano family a visit at their Costa di Bussia estate, they were keen to show him theirs. Traditionally, Barolo is aged in large, old oak casks called 'botti' and when Davy visited, they were down to the final botti of their flagship Barolo, made from vines in the Bussia 'cru'. To make more room for the next precious vintage, they offered it to Davy at a really attractive price, if we made them an exclusive UK label. You'll enjoy laser-like freshness, great depth of black cherry with rose petal and violets, and ageworthy tannin that pairs so well with game.
