Distinctively labelled Barrel Monkey Shiraz is an old-time McLaren Vale hero with a name that celebrates the hard-working cellar hands at the centre of every successful winery – those who frequently progress to become the next generation of great winemakers. It’s made in a style that has attracted legions of fans vintage after vintage, a style that legendary Aussie expert James Halliday once described as: “… fairly and squarely expressive of place, variety and the style that has caught the attention of the world. It is joyously juicy, a flood of red (mostly) and black fruits, a dab of chocolate, and enough body to satisfy the most rusted on carnivore.” He gave that vintage 94pts, and the last two vintages both won Gold.

With the Shiraz grown on their prized ‘Saint Andrew’s Vineyard’ in Angaston, RedHeads also make a signature, single estate wine called the 1888. It’s named after the property’s 1888 cottage, the oldest building in the area, now lovingly restored. Thanks to the pioneering work of the RedHeads team and its unwavering commitment to continued sustainability The winery itself has won a stream of environmental awards. Handcrafted and cask matured, this is a proud, deeply flavoured, top-notch red. On the label you’ll find names of the many customers who first lent their support to this new Barossa project.
