Flavour Profile
The Wine
The famous Black Pig range was named after Tanuki, a character-filled winery pig owned by a talented McLaren Vale winemaker. We don’t often reserve cases for our museum program, but when our wine team tasted the 2016, they were in awe. It was fantastic vintage, with all the hallmarks of a wine which would get better with age, and they sure were right! The dark chocolate and mint notes, so prominent on initial release, have relaxed, as have the tannins – giving it a mouth-filling softness and enhancing the wine’s richness. Still retains a lovely fruit edge.
