Mention Sauvignon Blanc to wine lovers the world over and Marlborough springs to mind Yet 30 years ago the region was known only for barley and sheep. Marlborough's success story is one of the most remarkable in modern wine, and one in which Hunter’s can claim to have played a major part. In 1986, they visited our London Wine Show, won all the Golds and made headlines. Today the estate is run by Jane Hunter, herself a trained viticulturist. She has a string of accolades for her work, including an OBE and Companion of the NZ Order of Merit for viticulture.
Winemaker today is Jane’s nephew James Macdonald. This is extremely fresh and tropical fruit-led,. delicious on its own, with seafood or spicy Thai.
